Elections: Pro Civil Justice Congress | DC Metro Area Personal Injury Law Blog

The national elections swept from office many Congressmen and Senators who have been extremely hostile to the legal rights of injured consumers.  While discussion of the war in Iraq dominated the media coverage of the elections, the tidal wave that swept Republicans from office coast to coast, represented a huge defeat for the US Chamber of Commerce and the big insurance companies who have waged a billion dollar campaign to eliminate the legal rights of the injured.

In the last election alone, it is estimated that the US Chamber of Commerce spent in excess of $30 Million in campaign contributions to candidates who promised to vote in favor of eliminating the legal rights of injured consumers and others harmed by corporate conduct.  Enron, Tyco, Phillip Morris and many other corporations would have completely escaped responsibility for the injuries to consumers, workers and the environment caused by corporate negligence if they had not been held responsible by the civil justice system.  For more than 20 years, the insurance companies and the huge mutli-national corporations have waged a campaign to eliminate the legal rights of those harmed by negligent conduct.

Congratulations to the candidates and voters nationwide yesterday who refused to succumb to the lavish campaign contributions from the corporate coffers.

The lawyers and staff at Regan Zambri and Long are proud to have supported and assisted candidates who believe in the legal rights of injured consumers and believe in the civil justice system.
